Oregon’s Political Tax Credit

Support Rep. Darcey Edwards and get your political tax credit for 2025!

Oregon has a unique way for many taxpayers to support local campaigns and causes they believe in: the Oregon Political Tax Credit.

If you qualify, you may be able to give up to $50 (individual) or $100 (married filing jointly) to a political campaign like Darcey’s and receive that amount back as a credit on your Oregon state income taxes, subject to income limits and eligibility.

For many Oregonians, this means a contribution to Darcey’s campaign can cost you little or nothing after tax time next year.

But you have to use it – or you lose it.

How the Oregon Political Tax Credit Works

The Political Tax Credit is a state income tax credit for contributions to qualified political committees and candidates in Oregon. A tax credit is different from a deduction — it can directly reduce the amount of Oregon income tax you owe, dollar-for-dollar, up to the allowed amount.

Under current law, eligible taxpayers may claim a credit for contributions made to qualifying political campaigns and committees, including candidate committees like Darcey for Oregon.

Important: The Oregon Legislature has changed the political tax credit rules several times over the years, including income limits and maximum credit amounts. Please review the latest guidance from the Oregon Department of Revenue or your tax professional to confirm your eligibility.

Who May Qualify?

Eligibility is based on your Oregon taxable income and how you file your return. In general:

  • You must be an Oregon resident who files an Oregon state income tax return.

  • Your Oregon taxable income must fall below certain limits set in statute.

  • You must make your contribution during the tax year to a qualifying political committee or candidate.

Because the exact income thresholds and rules may change over time, we recommend checking the Oregon Department of Revenue’s current guidance or speaking with a tax professional to confirm whether you qualify for the Political Tax Credit this year.

How Your Contribution Helps Darcey

Your contribution allows Darcey to:

  • Communicate with voters across House District 31

  • Share updates about her work on issues like public safety, addiction and mental health, tax accountability, and economic opportunity

  • Build the grassroots campaign needed to win tough elections and represent our communities in Salem

Whether it’s $10, $25, $50, or $100, your support helps Darcey stand up for Northwest Oregon — and if you qualify for the Oregon Political Tax Credit, you may be able to receive some or all of that amount back when you file your state taxes.
